Heartbreak for Magosi as Galaxy Claim Orange FA Cup Glory

Mochudi Centre Chiefs’ remarkable Orange FA Cup journey came to a painful end on Friday night as Jwaneng Galaxy fought back to secure a 2-1 victory in the final at the National Stadium. Despite a spirited performance from Magosi, Galaxy’s experience in knockout football ultimately proved decisive as they lifted the trophy for a third consecutive year.

Chiefs entered the final determined to cap off an impressive season with silverware and made the perfect start. The Kgatleng giants broke the deadlock in the 27th minute through Ronaldo Fortune, sending the sea of black and white supporters into celebration and giving Magosi a deserved lead.

However, Galaxy responded almost immediately, drawing level just minutes later to ensure the two sides went into the halftime break locked at 1-1. The equaliser shifted momentum and set the stage for a tense second half between two of Botswana football’s strongest teams.

After the restart, Chiefs continued to battle bravely and created opportunities to regain the advantage. The team displayed the fighting spirit and determination that had carried them to the final, refusing to be intimidated by the defending champions.

The decisive moment arrived when Omaatla Kebatho found the back of the net for Galaxy, giving his side a 2-1 lead. Despite pushing forward in search of an equaliser and receiving tremendous support from the Magosi faithful, Chiefs were unable to find a way past the Galaxy defence in the closing stages.

While the result is disappointing, there is much for Mochudi Centre Chiefs to be proud of. Reaching the Orange FA Cup final represents another significant step in the club’s resurgence and demonstrates the progress made throughout the season. The players, technical team, management, and supporters can hold their heads high after a campaign that showcased the fighting spirit and ambition that define Magosi.

The final whistle may have ended our dream of lifting the Orange FA Cup, but it does not diminish the incredible journey that brought us to the grand stage. We thank every supporter who stood with us throughout the competition and throughout the season.

We fall together. We rise together.
