Moyo Header Seals Hard-Fought Win Over Calendar Stars

Mochudi Centre Chiefs claimed a narrow but deserved 1–0 victory over Calendar Stars on Friday night at Gaborone United Stadium, starting the second round of the league with three valuable points.

The match proved to be a stern test for Magosi, with Calendar Stars setting up in a compact and disciplined defensive shape that limited space and made clear chances hard to come by. Chiefs controlled large spells of possession and probed patiently, but the breakthrough remained elusive for much of the contest.

As the clock ticked down, persistence finally paid off. In the 84th minute, Hendrick Moyo rose highest to meet a well-delivered cross, powering a header into the net to give Chiefs the lead and spark celebrations among the travelling supporters.

Calendar Stars pushed forward in search of an equaliser in the closing stages, but Magosi remained composed at the back, seeing out the match to secure another clean sheet.

It was a gritty and professional performance that underlined Chiefs’ growing resilience, ensuring the second round of the campaign began on a positive note. We now look towards Tuesday’s encounter with Nico United.
