MATCH PREVIEW: MAGOSI READY FOR LOG LEADERS GABORONE UNITED

Friday, 14 November 2025 | 19:00 | GU Stadium

The stage is set for another big night in the FNB Premiership as Mochudi Centre Chiefs take on current log leaders Gaborone United this Friday evening at GU Stadium.

United sit at the top with 25 points from 9 games, while the Magosi occupy 5th place with 19 points from 10, and a win could pull Chiefs closer to the top four as the league approaches its midpoint.

Speaking ahead of the clash, Head Coach Piro Moloi expressed satisfaction with his team’s preparations this week.

“It’s been a very good week. We’ve worked on a few aspects of our game, especially in the front box where we need to be more ruthless when chances come,” said Moloi. “Training has been sharp, and everyone is raising their hand for selection.”

Reflecting on the late 1–0 victory over Black Lions last weekend, Moloi highlighted both the positives and the lessons learned.

“The biggest lesson was that we have to be more clinical. We probably create more chances than any team in this league, but we must turn them into goals. The positive was the resilience and will of the boys — they never gave up.”

Chiefs will be without striker Ibroihim Youssouf, who is away on international duty, while Ernest remains sidelined with a fractured rib. On the brighter side, Brian Tafhi returns to full fitness, and key players Hendrick Moyo and Gilbert Baruti are also expected to feature prominently.

Moloi had special praise for Baruti, whose recent set-piece deliveries have been vital.

“Gilbert is probably the best number 10 in the country. His assists don’t surprise me because of his hard work and intelligence in finding space. I always demand more from him because of his quality — he still has so much to offer.”

Friday’s opponents, Gaborone United, are coming off a strong run of results and remain unbeaten at the summit. But Moloi insists his side are ready for the challenge.

“We respect them, but we focus on ourselves. The boys are confident, and the mood in camp is very positive. We go into this one ready to compete.”

It’s a fixture that promises high intensity and quality football — a true test for a Chiefs side that continues to grow with every match.
