MATCH REPORT: CHIEFS HELD 0–0 AS PETROS SHINES ON DEBUT
Mochudi Centre Chiefs were forced to settle for a 0–0 draw against Orapa United on Friday night at GU Stadium, in a match where Magosi created enough to win but couldn’t find the crucial finishing touch.
The first half brought its biggest talking point when Ibroihim Youssouf thought he had put Chiefs ahead, only for the goal to be controversially ruled out for offside. Replays and reactions around the stadium suggested the decision was harsh, and the frustration carried through the team’s early momentum.
Despite that setback, Chiefs pushed forward with purpose after the break. The introduction of Laone Petros for his senior debut lifted the tempo instantly. The young attacker impressed with his confidence, pace, and directness — creating several opportunities and leaving the crowd buzzing with excitement every time he touched the ball.
Magosi continued to threaten late in the game, and the best chance came from Kitso Mpuisang, who broke free in a 1v1 situation with the goalkeeper. His effort beat the keeper but agonizingly refused to cross the line, summing up the misfortune in front of goal on the night.
Head Coach Piro Moloi, speaking after the match, acknowledged the missed chances but stressed the long-term vision:
“We are building a team to compete strongly next season. The boys are working, we keep improving, and we’ll continue pushing until we get it right.”
While the result was not what Chiefs hoped for, there were clear positives — another clean sheet, a bright debut from Petros, and improved control in the second half.
The draw sees Magosi remain 5th in the FNB Premiership with 21 points from 13 games, sitting 8 points behind log leaders Gaborone United.
With the festive fixtures approaching and momentum still within reach, Chiefs will look to sharpen the small details that turn draws into victories.
