CHIEFS EDGED OUT IN FIVE-GOAL THRILLER

It was a night of high drama at GU Stadium as Mochudi Centre Chiefs fell narrowly to Morupule Wanderers, losing 3–2 in an end-to-end FNB Premiership encounter that kept fans on their feet throughout.

The Magosi made a dream start when Tefo Mofokeng converted from the penalty spot in the 7th minute after Brian Tafhi was fouled inside the box. But Morupule struck back quickly, equalising in the 18th minute with a well-taken volley before taking the lead just five minutes later through a driven shot against the run of play.

Chiefs kept pushing, and their persistence paid off just before halftime. A clever backheel pass from Argentine midfielder Nicolás Melgarejo set up Mofokeng once again, whose powerful effort took a deflection and nestled into the net to make it 2–2 heading into the break.

After the restart, Magosi came out firing — creating chance after chance and twice hitting the post — but luck wasn’t on their side. Morupule regained the lead in the 73rd minute with a powerful header inside the box, and despite a spirited late push, Chiefs couldn’t find the equaliser.

It was a frustrating result for the team, who showed plenty of attacking intent but were left ruing missed opportunities. There were also concerns as Tafhi and Ernest both went off injured; updates on their conditions will follow.

Despite the setback, Magosi remain determined to bounce back stronger as the season continues.
