🔥 Player Feature: Shanganani Ngada — The Towering Presence at the Heart of Chiefs’ Defence

Mochudi Centre Chiefs’ backline has been given a commanding boost this season with the addition of Shanganani Ngada, a no-nonsense centre-back whose calm authority and aerial dominance have quickly made him a fan favourite.

Ngada’s football journey began when he was just eight years old, kicking a ball around his neighbourhood before joining Township Rollers, where he developed his craft and learned the fundamentals of elite football. Inspired by South African football legend Mike “Sporo” Mangena, Ngada set his sights on a professional career built on discipline, reading of the game, and leadership from the back.

Like many defenders, Ngada’s path hasn’t been without setbacks — injuries have tested his resolve. But true to his character, he has used every challenge as fuel to return stronger and sharper. His proudest football moment came during Malawi’s Independence Cup, where he helped his team to victory, lifting silverware that still stands as one of his career highlights.

Asked about his preferred position, Ngada doesn’t hesitate:

“Centre back — I feel comfortable when playing this position,” he says with quiet confidence.

Since arriving at Chiefs, Ngada has shown exactly why that’s his domain. His aerial prowess, composure under pressure, and leadership have been evident — most notably in his towering header against Matebele FC, a goal that encapsulated both his defensive strength and attacking instinct.

As the season progresses, Ngada looks set to be a cornerstone of the Chiefs’ defensive structure — a reliable figure determined to help the club build from the back and restore its dominance in Botswana football.
