Magosi Held by Police XI in Rain-Soaked Encounter
Mochudi Centre Chiefs were held to a 1–1 draw by Police XI on Sunday, 15 February, in a rain-soaked contest that saw kick-off delayed by 15 minutes due to the heavy downpour.
When the match finally got underway, both sides had to contend with difficult conditions, but it was Magosi who looked the more purposeful as the game progressed. After a closely fought first half, Chiefs made the breakthrough immediately after the restart.
Evans Rusike gave Magosi the lead at the start of the second half, finishing off a well-worked move to put the visitors in control. The advantage, however, lasted only eight minutes as Police XI found an equaliser to bring the match back onto level terms.
The momentum swung further in Chiefs’ favour in the 64th minute when Police XI were reduced to ten men following a red card to Adiwoh. With the extra man, Magosi increased the pressure and pushed forward in search of a winner, but despite sustained attacking intent, the decisive goal would not come.
The result leaves Mochudi Centre Chiefs seven points behind joint log leaders Gaborone United and Jwaneng Galaxy, both on 44 points. GU suffered their first defeat of the season, going down 3–2 to Sua Flamingoes, while Galaxy recorded a 4–0 victory over Extension Gunners.
It was a match defined by the conditions, determination and missed opportunities, with Magosi taking a point from a fixture that, on another day, might have yielded all three.
