Miguel Corral Torreira Appointed Head Coach of Mochudi Centre Chiefs

Mochudi Centre Chiefs have appointed Miguel Corral Torreira as the club’s new Head Coach, effective immediately, marking the beginning of a new era for the Magosi.

The Spanish tactician arrives in Botswana with a wealth of international experience, having worked across Europe, Central America and Asia. Torreira most recently served as head coach of Malappuram in India’s Super League Kerala, where he earned plaudits for his tactical discipline and player development. His coaching journey began in Galicia, Spain, where he worked with youth teams before moving to Panama, initially joining Herrera FC as assistant coach and later being appointed head coach in 2022.

Club President Fredericks said the appointment reflects the club’s ambition to raise standards both on and off the pitch.

“Head Coach Torreira is the most qualified and progressive coach to ever work in our league. His credentials speak for themselves, but this appointment was not made on qualifications alone. We conducted a thorough and lengthy recruitment process to ensure we selected the right person to lead this project,” said Fredericks.

Torreira expressed his appreciation for the opportunity and his eagerness to begin his work at Mochudi Centre Chiefs.

“I would like to thank the club’s fans and directors for the trust they have shown in me. I am really looking forward to this challenge. I am here to be part of the project and I cannot wait to meet the technical team and the players so we can start working together,” he said.

The appointment of Torreira signals a strong statement of intent from Mochudi Centre Chiefs as the club looks to build a competitive and forward thinking team capable of challenging at the highest level of Botswana football.
