MAGOSI GRIND OUT BIG AWAY WIN IN FRANCISTOWN

Mochudi Centre Chiefs returned from Francistown with all three points after a hard-fought 1–0 victory over Tafic at Obed Itani Chilume Stadium on Saturday night. It was a performance built on resilience, patience and professionalism, capped by a decisive moment from Ronaldo Fortune in the second half.

The match began at a steady tempo as both sides tried to settle into their rhythm. Chiefs enjoyed good control of possession, while Tafic — fighting to climb away from the lower end of the table — showed determination and energy in front of their home supporters.

The breakthrough came in the fifty-seventh minute. A long ball into the Tafic box caused hesitation between the defenders and their goalkeeper, and Fortune reacted quickest to punish the mistake, guiding the ball into the net with composure. It was the kind of alert, instinctive finish that has become a hallmark of his contributions this season.

Assistant coach Sekhana Koko led the team on the day, with Head Coach Piro Moloi away for his wedding, and his in-game management proved crucial. Shadikong replaced Enosa as Chiefs looked to refresh the midfield, while Ernest came on for Hendrick Moyo to help retain control in the attacking phases. Later in the game, Kgotso Phuti entered for Gilbert Baruti to stabilise the structure following the sending-off of Malgas, who had to be dismissed after a late challenge left Chiefs with ten men.

Despite the numerical disadvantage, Magosi showed remarkable discipline and composure. The back line stood firm, the midfield narrowed the spaces effectively and Tafic were limited to half-chances as the clock wound down. Chiefs managed the final minutes superbly, slowing the game where necessary and keeping possession in critical areas to protect the lead.

When the final whistle blew, the travelling supporters roared in celebration — a deserved reward for a disciplined and committed performance. It was not a night of free-flowing football, but it was a night that demanded character, and Chiefs delivered exactly that.

A valuable away win, a clean sheet and another step forward as the season takes shape. Magosi march on.
